Get ready for fun – our awesome vintage fairground rides are all yours to enjoy and ride! Try your luck at our two vintage prize stalls, then head to the arcades for some classic 2p slot action or why not take on the wild challenge of our Over the Edge games?

Tokens for the rides can be purchased inside and rides will range from 2-3 tokens per person/ per car (subject to ride).
Please note that the arcades require coins to operate. We have change machines to convert notes, but we do not currently have a cash machine on site.
We do have some height restrictions for the rides at The National Fairground Museum. They are as follows:
1m (anyone below must be with an adult)
1.2m | 1m (must ride with an adult)
1.2m | 0.9m (must ride with an adult)
1.2m | 0.9m (must ride with an adult)
must be BELOW 1.3m to ride
1.4m | 1m (must ride with an adult) Below 1m cannot ride
(Min 0.9m and max 1.4m)
We do also have a selection of vintage arcade games / 2p machines.
The majority of the rides will require an adult with a younger child!
This is the last complete surviving and operational Moonrocket.
Riders sit in small rocket shaped cars that swing out when going round on the ride, which is also inclined to make it more intense. Whilst the ride is capable of doing 16rpm the central dome and the figure on it can rotate the other way – making it seem a lot faster and playing with your mind.
Even eighty years on, the Moonrocket is a thrilling, white-knuckle ride, and stands a tribute to the craftsmanship of that era.
It’s hard to believe this incredible ride was built over seventy years ago! It was part of the very first generation of thrilling, white-knuckle rides and quickly became a favorite back in the 1930s.
After the war, the ride was given a stunning makeover, featuring the iconic Chariot Racer scene on its front boards. This masterpiece was crafted at Ortons and brought to life by the talented artists, Sid and Albert Howell.
The breathtaking Roman chariot racing scene became a symbol of these rides, and this particular one is regarded as one of the finest ever created. In fact, it’s the only one of its kind still in use today!
There are a number of games operating in the museum building, adding to the atmosphere of the old time fairground.
The Plate Smasher is a very popular stall, and this one was travelled in the south-west for many years by Chris Davies.
And not forgetting the selection of traditional arcade games that you can still play if you are not a fan of rides!
